Family-friendly mountain biking in Myrkdalen
Are you into mountain biking together with your family, holiday in Myrkdalen in Western Norway is the perfect place for you.
Play on the pumptrack
Right outside Myrkdalen Hotel you'll find an 850 square metre pumptrack, a circuit of rollers, banked turns and features made in asphalt which is very user-friendly for all types of wheels.
This means you can use everything from regular bikes and kids' tricycles to bike scooters and skateboards.
Biking on a pumptrack gives you skills which can be transfered to traditional mountain biking. Here you will learn how to position yourself on the bike, how to create pressure and speed without using the pedals. These are great skills to have when biking on trails.
All bike types work well on a pumptrack, but many people feel more speed and better response from the surface on a bike without suspension - such as a BMX, hardtail or a dirt bike.
Bikingtrail with different elements for both children and beginners
Upside the hotel we have a purpose-built bike track with 3 short loops; 2 green and 1 blue. The track suits beginners and children, but there are also elements for more experienced bikers. You can use all types of bikes on this track which is open every day and is free of charge to use for everyone!
Today our bike product is mainly aimed at families who are looking for an active holiday on two wheels.
Feel the power from an e-mountainbike
E-biking today has become more and more popular - with good reason. It gives you the feeling of having superpowers, and you can ride both longer and faster than on an ordinary bike. During the summertime you can rent different types of mountain bikes including electric mountain bikes at Myrkdalen Sport & Utleige.
The café Fjellstova Vetlebotn in Myrkdalen is a cozy destination for a short biking tour with your family. Enjoy Norwegian traditional food based on local produce and ingredients, coffee and delicious pastries. The café is open everday from June 17 to August 1, at 11 am - 5 pm.
If you want to experience high-mountain terrain on bike, the gravel roads at Vikafjellet Mountain Plateau can be a nice alternative to explore.
