All children are different - some will give everything a go and some are more timid. But everyone has the best learning experiences when they have fun. A positive learning environment gives the children motivation to practice on the slopes.

All instructors at Myrkdalen Aktiv's ski school are internationally approved and educated at Snowsports Norway. The staff consists of both young and experienced instructors – all sharing the same passion in teaching.

Cross-country skiing is a big part of the Norwegian culture and for hundreds of years Norwegians have used this sport as a way of transportation to get from one valley to the next in winter time.In recent years cross country skiing has become the ultimate family activity for many Norwegians, where the social aspect of the sport is the main purpose.

The goal is not to reach a certain place, but to be together as a family -  play in the snow, make a little fire in the forest and drink hot chocolate.

More and more people also use cross country skiing for fitness purposes. Cross country skiing is the equivalent of trail running in summer, which gives you great nature experiences as well as a full body work out.

Årmostlia in Myrkdalen, which is situated across the road from the ski resort contains many kilometres of groomed cross country skiing tracks. This is a perfect location to either excersise or bring your kids skiing. A 5 km loop is illuminated, so you can go skiing even after it`s dark. The lights are on until 10 pm every night in the winter season.
