Spring skiing in snow sure Myrkalen
You would think ski season ends around Easter, but it is actually the prime time for sunny spring skiing – something you would want to experience!
The transition from winter to spring, with cold nights and warmer days, creates ideal mountain conditions for skiing.
There is definitely no shortage of snow in Myrkdalen. Bring your family or friends and enjoy longer and brighter days with fun slope skiing, soft slushy snow and fantastic backcountry and off-piste skiing.
Backcountry skiing
If you want a shorter backcountry touring route you can start higher up by taking the ski lift. From the top of the Kari Traa T-bar lift you can reach the top of Finnbunuten (1358 masl) within one hour. Here you’ll have magnificent views of the area around Myrkdalen, Stølsheimen and Hurrungane mountain range.
On your way down you can stop by Fjellstova Vetlebotn café, which is located just by the Kari Traa ski lift. Be sure to taste the Norwegian traditional food while you enjoy the view of white-clad mountains and sparkling snow.
For longer routes we recommend Vikafjellet Mountain Plateau, either you want to enjoy spectacular fjord views from mountain tops or prefer more gentle routes on easy terrain. Please note that there are no groomed tracks in this area – here you make your own tracks in the pristine mountain terrain.
Cross-country skiing in groomed tracks
For those of you who are into cross-country skiing, you can actually put the skis on right outside Myrkdalen Hotel and cross the ski bridge over to Årmotslia where 30 km of groomed tracks await.
